Brisbane were held scoreless for an hour as the Warriors dismantled the Broncos 40-6 at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.
The Warriors ran in seven tries in the Round 24 clash on 15 August, taking a 20-0 lead into halftime before stretching the margin to 36 points.
Xavier Willison finally put Brisbane on the board in the 61st minute, but by then the damage was done.
Warriors Take Charge Early
Jacob Laban opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Chanel Harris-Tavita and Alofiana Khan-Pereira crossed to put the Warriors 14-0 ahead inside 19 minutes.
Brisbane were given an opening when Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad was sin-binned and placed on report following a hip-drop penalty in the 18th minute.
The Broncos could not capitalise.
Instead, the Warriors protected their lead while down a man before Harris-Tavita kicked two penalty goals to send the visitors into halftime 20-0 ahead.
Second-Half Surge Buries Brisbane
Any prospect of a Broncos comeback disappeared quickly after the break.
Nicoll-Klokstad scored in the 46th minute, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak followed in the 52nd and Ali Leiataua crossed four minutes later.
Harris-Tavita’s conversion after Leiataua’s try made it 36-0.
Willison finally broke through for Brisbane in the 61st minute and Thomas Duffy converted, cutting the margin to 30.
There would be no comeback. Leka Halasima crossed in the 78th minute to complete the Warriors’ seven-try night and seal the 40-6 result.
Broncos Left With Few Answers
Brisbane had opportunities but repeatedly struggled to turn them into sustained pressure.
The Warriors were not error-free and spent 10 minutes with 12 men, yet still controlled the scoreboard from the ninth minute onwards.
For Brisbane, Willison’s try prevented a shutout. For the Warriors, seven different try-scorers reflected a performance in which the points came from across the side.
The final margin was emphatic and the crowd of 38,916 at Suncorp Stadium had watched the Warriors hand Brisbane a 34-point defeat.
