<p><strong><a href="https://goodwillprojects.com.au/markets/milton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Milton by Moonlight</a> returns this July, transforming the suburb&#8217;s popular Sunday market into a six-hour winter night market with live music across two stages, crackling bonfires, a pop-up bar and over 140 specialty stalls.</strong></p>

<hr><p class="related"><strong><em>Read: <a href="https://miltontoday.com.au/suncorp-stadium-stakeholders-push-for-upgrade-plan-before-olympic-deadline/">Suncorp Stadium Stakeholders Push for Upgrade Plan Before Olympic Deadline</a></em></strong></p><hr>

<p>The event runs from 4pm to 10pm on Saturday 18 July. Entry is $4.</p>

<p>Milton by Moonlight has become one of inner Brisbane&#8217;s most reliable mid-winter events, drawing crowds from across the city each year for a version of the Milton Markets experience that leans fully into the season. </p>

<p>The format stays consistent because it works: market browsing as the afternoon light drops, food and drinks as the temperature does the same, and live music stretching out to 10pm.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What to expect on the night</strong></h2>

<p>The market opens at 4pm while there is still daylight, giving visitors time to settle in before the full winter-evening atmosphere kicks in. More than 140 specialty stalls span gourmet street food, artisan goods, lifestyle stalls..</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="724" src="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-fire-Pits-1024x724.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25105" srcset="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-fire-Pits-1024x724.png 1024w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-fire-Pits-300x212.png 300w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-fire-Pits-768x543.png 768w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-fire-Pits-1536x1086.png 1536w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-fire-Pits-1200x848.png 1200w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-fire-Pits.png 2000w" sizes="(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo Credit: Supplied</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Crackling firepits and bonfires are stationed across the site to keep the crowd warm, which at this time of year in Milton is a practical detail as much as an atmospheric one. The pop-up bar serves Glühwein alongside local craft beers, the market&#8217;s known winter offering that tends to build a queue of its own.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-Gluhwein-819x1024.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25109" style="width:489px;height:auto" srcset="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-Gluhwein-819x1024.png 819w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-Gluhwein-240x300.png 240w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-Gluhwein-768x960.png 768w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-Gluhwein.png 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 819px) 85vw, 819px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo Credit: Supplied</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Live music runs across two stages throughout the evening, with roving performers and kids activities filling the spaces between. The event is dog-friendly, which for Milton&#8217;s crowd is rarely a footnote.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>A market that has been running here for years</strong></h2>

<p>Milton Markets operates every Sunday morning at the same corner location, year-round. Curated by <a href="https://goodwillprojects.com.au" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Goodwill Projects</a>, one of Queensland&#8217;s most established markets and events companies, it covers fresh farm produce, organic fruit and vegetables, meats, seafood, eggs, honey and a broad range of gourmet food and artisan stalls. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="724" src="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-Crowd-1024x724.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25107" srcset="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-Crowd-1024x724.png 1024w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-Crowd-300x212.png 300w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-Crowd-768x543.png 768w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-Crowd-1536x1086.png 1536w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-Crowd-1200x848.png 1200w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Milton-Crowd.png 2000w" sizes="(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo Credit: Supplied</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>During winter months from June to August, Sunday trading runs from 7am to 1pm rather than the usual 6am to 12pm trading hours. </p>

<p>Milton by Moonlight is the one annual event that flips the script entirely: same location, same stall quality, but after dark in the middle of winter with bonfires and a bar instead of coffee and morning light.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">

<p>The site sits just behind <a href="https://parkroadmilton.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Park Road</a>&#8216;s café strip, in the shadow of the XXXX Brewery. It is accessible by bus and a short walk from Milton train station.</p>

<p><strong>Lucas Herrington, a graduate of the <a href="https://brisbaneroar.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brisbane Roar Academy</a>, has been named in the Socceroos&#8217; 26-player squad for the <a href="https://www.fifa.com/en/tournaments/mens/worldcup/canadamexicousa2026" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">FIFA World Cup 2026</a>, becoming one of the youngest players in Tony Popovic&#8217;s selection.</strong></p>

<hr><p class="related"><strong><em>Read: <a href="https://miltontoday.com.au/queensland-locks-in-nrl-magic-round-at-suncorp-until-2032/">Queensland Locks In NRL Magic Round at Suncorp Until 2032</a></em></strong></p><hr>

<p>The 18-year-old central defender joined the Roar&#8217;s academy in 2019 as a 13-year-old, coming through junior football at <a href="https://www.taringarovers.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Taringa Rovers</a>, <a href="https://toowongfc.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Toowong FC</a> and <a href="https://brisbanecityfc.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brisbane City</a> before spending five years in the club&#8217;s NPL development pathway. His inclusion in a World Cup squad is one of the more striking outcomes the academy has produced.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>A debut season that turned heads</strong></h2>

<p>Herrington earned a three-year scholarship with Brisbane Roar in September 2024 and made his A-League Men debut that December in a 2-2 draw against <a href="https://wswanderersfc.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Western Sydney Wanderers</a>. He scored his first senior goal the following month in a 4-3 win over <a href="https://sydneyfc.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sydney FC</a>, one of the league&#8217;s bigger scalps.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="952" height="536" src="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25114" srcset="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image.png 952w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-300x169.png 300w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-768x432.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo Credit: <a href="https://brisbaneroar.com.au/news/roar-academy-graduate-lucas-herrington-named-in-socceroos-world-cup-squad/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brisbane Roar</a></figcaption></figure></div>

<p>By the end of his first top-flight season, Herrington had made 17 appearances, won the Roar Young Player of the Year award, and starred in the <a href="https://socceroos.com.au/young-socceroos-news" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Young Socceroos</a>&#8216; successful AFC U20 Asian Cup campaign.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong><strong>A rapid rise to the World Cup</strong></strong></h2>

<p>Strong early-season form in 2025-26 earned him a January 2026 move to <a href="https://www.coloradorapids.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Colorado Rapids</a> in Major League Soccer. He has started every match since, becoming a regular in defence for Colorado Rapids. </p>

<p>He made his senior Socceroos debut against Cameroon in late March and featured in a pre-tournament friendly against Mexico at the Rose Bowl in front of more than 75,000 spectators.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="711" src="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-1024x711.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25115" srcset="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-1024x711.png 1024w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-300x208.png 300w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1-768x533.png 768w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-1.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo Credit: <a href="https://brisbaneroar.com.au/news/roar-academy-graduate-lucas-herrington-named-in-socceroos-world-cup-squad/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brisbane Roar</a></figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Brisbane Roar congratulated Herrington on the achievement, noting his journey from the academy pathways at Milton through to the world&#8217;s most watched football tournament.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Australia&#8217;s path through Group D</strong></h2>

<p>The Socceroos open their World Cup campaign against Türkiye at BC Place in Vancouver on Saturday 14 June at 2pm AEST. They then face the United States at Lumen Field in Seattle on Saturday 20 June at 5am AEST, before playing Paraguay at Levi&#8217;s Stadium in Santa Clara on Friday 26 June at 12pm AEST.</p>

<p>The 22-year-old Gympie athlete, who also holds Norwegian citizenship, will join the Hamburg-based club ahead of the 2026-27 Bundesliga season, moving into one of world football&#8217;s top five leagues after two seasons as a first-team regular at Brisbane Roar. </p>

<p>The transfer includes a significant fee and a sell-on agreement that gives the Roar a share of any future transfer involving Klein, meaning Brisbane continues to benefit financially as his career develops.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>A road that was never going to be straight</strong></h2>

<p>Klein&#8217;s journey to the Bundesliga took him through the Football Queensland pathway system before he was scouted into the Brisbane Roar Academy, where he first arrived in January 2021 and spent his early years developing through the under-21s. </p>

<p>Restless for professional senior football, he left the club to try his luck in Scandinavia, seeking the kind of regular game time that can make or break a young career. It did not deliver the breakthrough he needed.</p>

<p>He returned to Australia and signed with Gold Coast Knights in the NPL Queensland competition, continuing to develop his game in the domestic second tier. Brisbane Roar had kept a close eye on his progress, and in September 2024 they brought him back. This time the path ran in the right direction.</p>

<p>Klein made 19 appearances and scored five goals in the 2024-25 A-League Men&#8217;s season, enough to cement a starting position heading into 2025-26. This season he delivered 25 appearances, four goals and an assist, playing every minute of the Roar&#8217;s last 17 matches before missing just one game through concussion. </p>

<p>In all competitions, he made 46 appearances for Brisbane, registering nine goals and one assist. It was the consistency of that output that caught St. Pauli&#8217;s attention.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>A midfield profile built for St. Pauli</strong></h2>

<p>St. Pauli head coach Alexander Blessin was clear about what attracted the club to Klein. &#8220;Sam boasts exciting skills that enable him to occupy a number of roles in central midfield,&#8221; Blessin said. &#8220;He combines good anticipation and vision with accurate passing, and also looks to get on the scoresheet himself. He&#8217;s aggressive in defence and doesn&#8217;t hold back in his efforts to win back possession.&#8221; </p>

<p>At 1.88 metres, Klein is also a significant aerial presence, adding a dimension to St. Pauli&#8217;s midfield options that their director of sport Andreas Bornemann highlighted as a key factor in the club&#8217;s decision to sign him.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/image-6-1024x683.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25035" srcset="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/image-6-1024x683.png 1024w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/image-6-300x200.png 300w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/image-6-768x512.png 768w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/image-6.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo Credit: <a href="https://brisbaneroar.com.au/news/brfc-media-release-sam-klein-joins-bundesliga-club-fc-st-pauli/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brisbane Roar</a></figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Klein arrives at St. Pauli to link up with two fellow Australians, <a href="https://socceroos.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Socceroos</a> captain Jackson Irvine and midfielder Connor Metcalfe, giving Hamburg a remarkably strong Australian contingent. He has also represented Australia at the youth international level, earning call-ups to the Under-20 setup and debuting for the Under-23 side. </p>

<p>Whether Klein debuts in the Bundesliga or the second division will depend on how St. Pauli resolve their current season. At the time of the announcement, the Hamburg club sat one point clear of the Bundesliga relegation zone with three rounds remaining, meaning Klein arrives into a club with high stakes football still to be decided.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>A club that is becoming a genuine export pathway</strong></h2>

<p>Klein&#8217;s transfer follows a productive season for Brisbane Roar in the international market. Lucas Herrington moved to<a href="https://www.coloradorapids.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Colorado Rapids</a> in <a href="https://www.mlssoccer.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Major League Soccer</a>, while on the women&#8217;s side, Leia Varley signed for German second-division side 1. <a href="https://www.fcn.de/en/home/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">FC Nürnberg</a>. Together with Klein&#8217;s move, it signals a Roar capable of developing and exporting talent at multiple levels and to multiple markets.</p>

<p>Brisbane Roar Chief Operating Officer Zac Anderson described the deal as evidence of the club&#8217;s broader purpose. &#8220;Sam is a Queenslander who has always supported the Roar, and that passion has shown through in his performances,&#8221; Anderson said. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/image-7-1024x683.png" alt="" class="wp-image-25036" srcset="https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/image-7-1024x683.png 1024w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/image-7-300x200.png 300w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/image-7-768x512.png 768w, https://miltontoday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/image-7.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo Credit: <a href="https://brisbaneroar.com.au/news/brfc-media-release-sam-klein-joins-bundesliga-club-fc-st-pauli/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brisbane Roar</a></figcaption></figure></div>

<p>&#8220;Nothing has been given to Sam, he has had to work hard for every professional opportunity, and we couldn&#8217;t be happier to see one of our own progress to a top five league globally. This deal is important, as it&#8217;s another piece of evidence that Brisbane Roar is a genuine springboard for young Queensland and Australian talent to reach the top of the world game.&#8221;</p>

<p>Klein&#8217;s mother, Francis, captured the family&#8217;s joy with equal clarity. &#8220;It&#8217;s been Sam&#8217;s dream to play professionally in Europe for as long as he&#8217;s been kicking a ball,&#8221; she said. &#8220;To see it, as a family, come to fruition is incredibly special.&#8221;</p>

<p>Klein himself was characteristically grounded. &#8220;To go from playing football in Gympie to running out for a club like FC St. Pauli is something I never imagined would happen,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I owe an enormous amount to Brisbane Roar, the coaches, the staff and the supporters who backed me from day one. The Roar is where I started and you&#8217;ll always hold a special place in my heart.&#8221;</p>

<p><strong>The Foo Fighters are returning to Brisbane for the first time since 2023, with Suncorp Stadium in Milton set to host the band on Thursday, November 5 as the opening night of their Take Cover Australian and New Zealand stadium tour.</strong></p>

<hr><p class="related"><strong><em>Read: <a href="https://miltontoday.com.au/suncorp-stadium-confirmed-for-10-rugby-world-cup-2027-matches/">Suncorp Stadium to Host 10 Rugby World Cup Matches in 2027</a></em></strong></p><hr>

<p>The announcement has been building for weeks, following the band&#8217;s history-making one-off concert in Launceston in January 2026, where Dave Grohl promised the crowd the Foos would be back sooner than expected. The band has now locked in nine stadium dates, kicking off in Brisbane in November 2026 before heading across the country and wrapping up in Perth in January 2027. The Brisbane show will open the tour.</p>

<p>For Milton locals and the broader inner-Brisbane community, Suncorp Stadium is a well-worn venue for big rock nights. The Foos have played the ground before on their 2023 run, and the familiarity of the setting is part of the appeal: a stadium that functions as a genuine community gathering point, not just a concert shed.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>A New Album and a New Era</strong></h3>

<p>The timing of the tour could not be better for fans hungry for fresh material. The band&#8217;s 12th studio album, <em>Your Favorite Toy</em>, is due for release on April 24, ahead of the Take Cover tour dates. The band recorded the album at home and co-produced it with Oliver Roman. It marks their first studio release with new drummer Ilan Rubin, who joined after Josh Freese left the band in 2025.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Supporting Acts and a Regional Flavour</strong></h3>

<p>Dave Grohl has described the new record as featuring noisy, loud bangers that are uptempo and reminiscent of the band&#8217;s earlier work. The title track, already streaming now, pairs crunchy guitars with a propulsive rhythm and an infectious chorus. By November, Brisbane audiences will have had seven months to get to know the new material, and the setlist is set to mix it with three decades of favourites — from <em>Everlong</em> and <em>The Pretender</em> to whatever the Foos choose to unleash from the new record.</p>
