Anzac Day Parade At King George Square

On 25 April, the Anzac Day Parade will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at King George Square to commemorate those who sacrificed and those who continue to serve the country.

This year’s parade will mark the centenary of the Armistice which was signed in November 1918.

First held in Brisbane on 25 April 1916, the Anzac Parade is held annually for the citizens of Queensland to acknowledge the sacrifice of the Australian Defence Force. The march is dedicated to honour those who have not returned from wars and conflicts, from the Boer War until modern operations such as in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Veterans will march to receive the acknowledgment of the citizens and to honour the memory of their comrades.

This year, there will also be a recognition for service animals. A booklet titled Mounts to Motors – Transport in War will also be distributed to parade goers.

The best place to watch the Parade is on Adelaide Street, between George Street and Creek Street.
