Milton State School’s Fair on the Green is back this month, turning Gregory Park into a day of rides, stalls, performances and food before an outdoor movie after dark.
The P&C Association fundraiser will run from 11am to 8pm on Saturday, 29 August, bringing together the school and wider Milton community.
Money raised by the P&C supports Milton State School priorities, with funding decisions made in conjunction with the school executive team and Student Advisory Council.
Gregory Park Turns into a Fairground
Rides will operate until 5pm, with dodgems, a giant slide, bungee and rock wall, swinger, Cha Cha, giant worm, ball pit, carousel and ride-on cars among the attractions.
Earlybird all-day ride passes are $35, compared with $45 on the day. Individual tickets are $7 earlybird or $9 on the day. Age, height or weight restrictions apply to some rides.
Away from the rides, there will be face painting, emergency vehicle displays, a dunk tank, Lob-a-Choc, a colouring competition and a second-hand stall selling books, games, puzzles and plush toys.
Visitors can also try football, chess and modern pentathlon target practice.
Students Step into the Spotlight
Milton State School students will feature throughout the stage program, including class groups, strings and choirs.
The line-up also includes The Premier Dance Academy, Play on Stage, Aikido, Reverb Republic and 48Dave.
Class groups are scheduled to perform in five-minute intervals between 2.20pm and 3.20pm, starting with Prep.
At 6pm, the fair switches to an outdoor movie. The screening is free, with families encouraged to bring a blanket or rug.
From the BBQ to the Bar
The P&C will run a BBQ and bake stall, alongside food and drink vendors including Salad, Banh’s on Wheels, Potato Slinky, Grassfed, Gelateria Cremona, Que Tea Bubble Tea and OMG! Donuts.
The bar will operate from noon to 8pm, serving beer, wine, bubbles, premixed cans and cocktails.
Card payments are preferred across the fair, with limited cash available at some P&C stalls and no ATM on site.
Visitors are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles, with water stations available on site.
The Community Behind the Fair
Fair on the Green has been part of the Milton State School calendar since 2009, when the inaugural event was held in Gregory Park.
Volunteers remain central to the fair, helping with stalls, the BBQ, set-up and pack-down.
